I haven't gotten jumped, but I've had some complaints. I put it out there for all the coaches that have been assaulted, including at least 1 death for a youth hockey coach.

Dude, did you seriously get jumped for benching a kid? Throwing a bat in anger/frustration is unacceptable. Unless that kid is getting paid to play ball, he has no right to start throwing equipment. I play a lot of golf, and my dad always told me, "Son, unless you're getting paid to play this game, you have no right to start throwing clubs. It embarrasses yourself."

Update....

Lukas is doing fabulous. We have concluded he just can't be trusted 100% around small children, but of course what dog can?

On the flipside, the neighbor who we have had small issues with has her hands full with a new addidtion to her family. She recently adopted a dog herself. Jack is a very active yellow lab. She informed me that she has learned Jack isn't too fond of little boys and he 'went after Seth'. Is this what they call Karma??

In the end, living in disturbia requires everyone to do their part with our children and pets. How else could we live happily 30ft apart?

Children are like dogs in the fact that try as you may you cannot control their behavior at all times. If my child were nipped by a dog I would take the blame totally on myself. It is my responsibility as thier parent to keep an eye on what they are doing. It is up to me to teach them that you do not approach a dog without the master's permission and even then you approach cautiously. Unfortunately, until they learn this the hard way (as I did as a child) it is difficult to drive this point home with your child.

I too have a dog that has been known to nip children. Both of my boys have been nipped by him due to their own inappropriate behavior. I do not blame the dog for nipping them...I blame my boys for taunting him and behaving in such a way that brings out his aggressive side. While camping he has nipped a strange child or two...always after the children have done something other than pet him...such as trying to pick him up by his legs.

Karen, while very well thought out, and eloquently written, you didn't have to write this entire blog post. The title and photo would have been sufficient. =)

Miss you guys!
